Chapter 8: Guests At The Colony

In the morning we left the hostel and looked around for some breakfast, which  was obviously a mistake because apparently there's no such thing as breakfast in India. Later we just settled for a place called Mother Dairy, basically just a chain of small buildings that sell only milk and ice cream. We got 2 (bags) of milk.. that's right I said (bags) literally a fatty sweet milk like substance  contained inside a plastic bag. The milk was tasty but not something id suggest drinking on a daily bases. If I had to guess id say it was made out of 4% fat 70% milk and 26% of something completely unrelated.Later we met up with Raveesh and ate buttered chicken at a restaurant that he said was the best in the city for the general public. Well I don't know if the restaurant was the best but the chicken and the buttered naan was pretty bomb. Then Raveesh introduced us to a kind of candy called bon, in essence its a shit load of nuts and minty like beetle leaves wrapped together. The moment we put them in our mouth's the same look etched itself on each of our faces.  Pretty much we weren't sure whether or not to immediately spit it out or to keep chewing in the hopes that it was somehow going to magically get better along the way. After a while it wasn't as strong and then it was actually alright. What you do is you chew on it but don't swallow and suck the juices that mix with the spices until it all dwindles away.Raveeshes father was one of the scientists that worked with NASA on Apollo 11, his sister is a flight attendant on Qatar airlines and his mom just had a heart bypass surgery. We had showers at his house and a proper bathroom to use, lol.All in all his house was very well furnished and I found myself wishing I had his room and his computer. The entire time I was having the best intellectual conversation I could manage with raveeshes father whilst his mother hounded us both endlessly about what she could make for us to eat, despite our contant polite refusals, we really were quite full from the buttered chicken after all.
